Plugs!
We have dearly beloved musicians
and artists in our lives, and we can't "review" their work
for about 5 good reasons. But we can plug them, so here they are.
The Clayton/Scott Group are Jim Clayton, my big
brother, and Andy Scott whom you may remember from the acid-jazz group
One Step Beyond in Toronto. Both guys decided a couple of years ago
to get some of the smooth jazz money that's flying around, and they're
doing it. Their first album, August, was widely reviewed and got plenty
of radio play. Their second record, So Nice, is due out soon. Jim's
first recording was with his band Greenhouse, in 1997, and was called
Muskoka. It was also well-received. And it has a song inspired by me
on it, called Somnia. MP3's available at their site.
Oh, and recently Jim was recognized
by Lambton County as being "the shit". Check
it out.

The good Reverend Fear plays guitar
and writes for Poised For The Worm, whose first album was released in
2002 and featured "Parade," which recently charted # 2 on the world
indie charts at MP3.com. Their record, With Baited Breath, is
listenable at their site and for sale at GEMM.

If you live here in Toronto and you play the guitar (or
want to) please do yourself a favour and check out the guitar shop on
Queen East, one block east of Leslie. The guys in there are the real
deal: they know their stuff, build their own guitars for fun, and they'll
help you out in a way that the big shops (Long and McQuade, Steve's)
never will. Drop in to get some strings and shoot the shit for an hour.
They have iguanas too.
Seriously, check it out. Nobody paid me to advertise here;
I just love this store.
